Hi All,
It is my pleasure to advise that Hoppers Crossing Cricket Club will be participating in North Division this season.
After our poor performance in this grade last season it is vital that we turn things around and vindicate the VTCA’s decision to reinstate our position.
On a sour note the attendance at our last 3 sessions has been disgraceful and needs to improve immediately. We only have 6 weeks before the first game so it’s time to get off the couch and get to training. Make the commitment to yourself and your teammates that between now and the start of the season you will attend every possible training session and stop making excuses.
There is no doubt that those players who are putting in during preseason training will be looked after in the initial rounds when selection takes place and as far as I’m concerned this is the way it should be. I don’t want to hear complaints from anyone come the first selection night about where they have been picked if they haven’t put in over the preseason.
There have been a couple of players who have left since last season but there are also several new recruits. Holding your spot in the team you played last season is no formality especially with the speed which our juniors are developing.
On the original training schedule Thursdays night’s session was supposed to be restricted to the Senior and Development Squads, but due to the recent poor attendance I’ve opened this up to be any player who expects or has ambitions of playing in the top 4 grades this season. There will only be 3 nets with batting and bowling which one of the reasons why the session has not been made available to all players.
